Hi, I'm Mika!
(pronounced mee-cah)
I grew up near the foggy beaches of Northern California, and now spend my days in Brooklyn, NY. When I’m not working, I’m either running, practicing guitar, or drinking copious amounts of coffee.
Before Product Design,
I worked in roles spanning across Product Ops & Support in tech. In these roles, I witnessed users struggle daily with overcomplicated workflows, incomplete information, and product limitations that blocked progress. Their frustration resonated deeply with me. I didn't realize then that this instinct to inhabit the customer's perspective and understand their pain would become my greatest strength as a UX designer.
My Experience
Most recently, I was part of the design team at Compound Planning, where I worked on everything from refining onboarding to launching full product flows for new tax tools and partnerships.
Additionally, I completed 480 hours of UX/UI work through DesignLab and received a certificate in Design Thinking. The majority of my portfolio projects featured here are from that course.
Looking Ahead
I’m most excited about website redesigns and exploring different sectors like healthcare, e-commerce, and fintech.
